Questions & Answers

  • Been sitting in the garage a while since those photos of 2015. (now needs tuning and battery) Top end rebuilt. Have service records. Bottom end is SSD. The cases have never been split - still has factory wire & lead seal. Purchased from Motomart (WGN) 2003. Last in regular use 2010. It became a project which I'm now ready to pass on. • Could you tell me please the engine and frame numbers. kind regards Steve k*******t (120)07:15 pm, Wed, 17 Apr mehol is right Conti's would be nice. Even Staintune or the original Lafranconis. The 2 into 2 with balance pipe is crafted by Custom Chambers. Note: after standing for years they have service rust and need a respray with HT paint. darmah80 (4) • Wednesday, 17 April 2024
  • What do you mean bottom end is SSD? What is the difference to SD?? r******7 (191)11:17 pm, Wed, 17 Apr Super Sports Desmo. The give away is the double rib over the big end of the con rods. Another is a 'D' stamped into the crank case buy the engine number. • Hi there Could you please put some photos of it as it sits today s*****r (89)06:55 am, Thu, 25 Apr Current photos added. The battery on trickle charge though not up to turning it over without help from a battery booster. I turn over the engine every now and then to move the oil around. Battery good enough to confirm the electrics all work. For those interested in restoration I have the original rear shocks and also the original headlight shell and bezel (no glass) awaiting a nice led headlamp fitting. darmah80 (4) • Thursday, 25 April 2024

  • Did it ever jump out of 1st gear ? ( a not uncommon issue with these machines ) Any gearbox noises? Oil leaks? I've owned a few of these in the past and still think that they're one of the nicest looking bikes on the planet. (especially in black and gold) d**5 (428)07:42 am, Wed, 1 May No gear box issues. I had to have the neutral indicator cam made, my brother a tool maker. The output shaft leaked another weak point. I had new seals put in a long while ago. Gears select cleanly and stay that way. No oil leaks from the cases, more like weeping. Usual thing. And yes Ducati did a fine job with the Darmah a big step up from the 860. darmah80 (4) • Wednesday, 1 May 2024
