Believe it or not, we’re now halfway through 2023! We thought this would be a good time to look at the most popular recent searches on Trade Me. It turns out Kiwi had quite the eclectic range of interests in May, from Star Wars to cowboy boots, and a splash of healthy hydration.
1. Star Wars
It Lukes like May the 4th (be with you) had Kiwi channelling their inner Jedi, as we saw a big increase in Star Wars related searches on Trade Me over the last month.
The good news for lovers of the franchise, is we have heaps of Star Wars paraphernalia on site, both new or (like Luke after his run in with Darth Vader) second hand. This includes a wide range of Star Wars figurines and miniatures and also Star Wars clothing so you can display your fandom loud and proud, Yoda best!

2. The Warriors
From Jedi Warriors to…well, THE Warriors.
While we’re keen not to jinx it, the 2023 season has been a great one for Aotearoa’s Men In Blue. So, it’s no surprise that Kiwi are looking to get behind the boys by donning Warriors jerseys and hats. You can even find Warriors chilly bins on Trade Me, so you can keep the drinks cold as you watch the team blast past another Aussie challenger.

3. Frank Green water bottle
H2O wow! We all know it’s great to hydrate, and these Frank Green water bottles mean you can sip away to your heart’s content. Got a friend who still drinks from disposable plastic bottles? It's time for them to wash that habit out of their system. With a range of sizes and colours available on Trade Me, these bottles make for an aquamazing gift for a friend, or just a nice healthy treat for yourself.

4. Nintendo Switch
Since its launch in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has been a favourite console for gamers young and old.
Looking into our crystal ball, we think the uptick interest in searches for Switchs that we saw in May was to do with the release of the next instalment of the ever popular Zelda series:
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
So, if you’re looking for something to do now that the evenings are getting darker, why not switch things up a bit, don your armour and dive headlong into the world of Zelda and Link!

5. Cowboy boots
Howdy partner, there’s a new shoeriff in town! Cowboy boots were kicking butt on Trade Me in May, rounding out our list of the top five trending searches in the last month.
Yee-haw!
Wondering what in tarnation this funky footwear is doing being so popular in Aotearoa? We have a sneaky suspicion that it’s something to do with the recent Coachella and Stagecoach festivals that fell in April, and influencers showing that these boots were indeed made for walkin’.
So, why not head to Trade Me and lasso yourself a pair before they saddle up and ride off into the sunset in someone else’s basket.
