Jeremy Wade

Get to know Jeremy, our acting Head of Consumer & Marketplace.

I joined Trade Me back in 2013 (over 10 years ago, yikes!) on a 3 month, part-time contract. That 'short contract' continued to 2015 when I became the Business Manager for the then-CEO, then Head of Jobs in 2016, co-Head of Classifieds in 2020, and now filling in as Head of Marketplace for Lisa Stewart while she's on parental leave.

I reckon that speaks to one of the things I really love about Trade Me – opportunities to develop and grow. The other thing I love is the great people – who really care about the work they do and the impact it has, and also working for an iconic brand that plays a huge social role in NZ (e.g., by helping people get houses, cars, and jobs).

Before Trade Me, I studied Accountancy, worked for Deloitte, then did a bunch of roles in the UK and back in Aotearoa before becoming CFO, then CEO of a small recruitment business. I really value the broad experience and perspectives I gained from seeing different businesses and cultures in action, and hands-down I reckon Trade Me is the best place I have ever worked.

Outside of work I spend most of my time with my wife and two kids. A lot of our time revolves around sport or adventures. I reckon playing in a team, dealing with what makes for great preparation and handling the elation and disappointment are pretty important life lessons. I'm now getting right back into my running and am keen to get back into some multisport events in the future. My biggest achievement in the past was completing the Coast to Coast longest day).

At work, I really value water-cooler conversations, especially when it helps address questions or concerns that people have bubbling away.
