This is a 3 year old Highland steer that was dehorned as a young calf. The photo was taken on 2 May 2024.
He will be home-killed for our freezer on Thursday 16 May. We got Covid, so had to postpone - we will confirm the new date when it is confirmed
His green hide will be available in full winter coat on the day of home-kill.
Location is central Kaukapakapa.

Hi can you explain what “green hide” means? Thanks r*******8 (53 • 8:41 am, Fri, 17 MayA green hide means as it comes off the animal. It needs to be cooled then processed. I would hang it over a gate or rails at the yards for a few hours. It will then be ready for processing. If it wasn't to be processed straight away, it can be rolled up and deep frozen. It is important to cool it to prevent "hair slip".
