Description
Built from 1971 to 1976, the Philips 22 GA 212 Electronic turntable is still considered to be among the best Philips turntables ever made. Better known as Philips 212, the unit has achieved somewhat of a cult status among vinyl fans and vintage collectors. Key features include a floating suspension of the platter and sub chassis that provides excellent shock protection and capacitive touch keys featuring green backlights. The floating sub chassis results in a very low rumble value, and the light weight aluminum platter works quite well and does provide an interesting alternative to the more common approach of providing more mass to the platter and chassis. Playing speeds are set at 33 and 45 RPM and pitch can be independently adjusted for both speeds. The Philips 212 came fitted with Philips own GP400 cartridge which was durable. A genuine 1 owner from new machine, it hasn't had many miles put on it. The stylus still has plenty of life in it, and plays well. I do have a Brand New 412 cartridge that would be a significant step up from the 400, this can be negotiated afterwards. The RCAs have been changed to a Sumitomo Low Stray Capacity cable. A new belt was imported from Canada, this is now fitted. All capacitive touch keys work including the green lights.
These are becoming harder to find in good overall condition, it won't be around long so jump on it.
