FAMILY HEIRLOOM TONGAN SPEAR

Tongan spear handed down through at least 4 to 5 generations that we know of - not sure whether this would be called Vintage or Antique - was brought from Tonga.

We cannot verify a date but was handed to my almost 77 year old husband in 2000 by his father and it came to NZ from his grandfather in - we think most likely late last century.

We are unsure of its date other than the story went that he was in line for theTongan throne, but as he came to NZ and married a European lady (my husbands grandmother) he could not pursue that avenue and stayed in NZ and served in the NZ army in the 1st world war. Sadly we have never been able to go back that far in the family history.

It has sadly been painted on the REAR SIDE ONLY approx. 20 years ago by a family member who shall remain nameless! it also looks like a small piece broke of the spear head, like a splintered off piece. I will add more photos over the next few days.

The length of it is approx. 1190 cm's
