Questions & Answers

  • Hi can you upload photos, has it still got the mast step b********4 (12)6:43 pm, Fri, 10 May Take all the photos you want when/if you inspect it. Mast step included. zeleda (1) • Friday, 10 May 2024
  • Hi, I'd like to see some photos before making an 8 hour drive. Cheers. c*******7 (7)2:58 am, Sat, 11 May The cost of moving a 38ft Houseboat/Yacht/TinyHouse to Lower Hutt on the road or towing it by sea is probably too expensive, but if you have somewhere closer to move it to then it would be worth it. Sorry, no photos, best to take them yourself, it is in very good condition, needs small repairs and a decent coat of paint inside and out. If you are looking for something to put in your backyard for accommodation it would be worth the drive. zeleda (1) • Saturday, 11 May 2024
  • It is 38ft not 38 mtrs as TradeMe has it listed. Includes the cradle it is sitting in as well. The Saloon roof is also protected with fibreglass and no leaks or rot in it. Windows are removed and the surrounds can be inspected, no rot there either. Big stern wheelhouse needs sanding/sealing but not leaking either. Large head with sink, room for a shower. A massive amount of under-bed and seating storage. The Saloon holds about 15 people sitting down around the sides, plus the galley. Seller comment Saturday, 11 May 2024
  • Sorry, mast was keel mounted but the original section up to the Roof is included. There is an aluminium mast available to suit but not part of auction, inspect that onsite if interested and negotiate that sale separately. The hull to the waterline has been sanded ready for painting, NO ROT ANYWHERE in the hull, ( see for yourself ) and if it was used as a land-based "House-Boat" the Kauri would look real nice finished with high gloss clear satin. • I too am interested but only if you post photos b*****7 (453)8:08 am, Sat, 11 May If you cannot text or ring asking about it, then you cannot be that interested. zeleda (1) • Saturday, 11 May 2024
  • It's 2024, everyone has a camera on their phone. Just put up some photos or stop wasting everyone's time. c*******7 (7)10:05 am, Sat, 11 May Yes, you are right. I am wasting your time. But you don't seem to have a phone because unlike others that are really interested and are ringing, you just moan about actually making a genuine enquiry. Don't bother bidding because it will be removed, for wasting my time. zeleda (1) • Saturday, 11 May 2024
  • Several people have rung and discussed the situation as asked, and photos have been sent to them as requested. One enquirer wanted to see closeup photos of the Kauri planking ( 2in x 2in ) so they were taken for him as requested. Another was interested in seeing the 2 Keels and the stern, so several of those as well as overall shots were sent. And 2 people from the Auckland area are coming to see it on Monday afternoon. They are going to take their own photos. Seller comment Saturday, 11 May 2024
  • Several questions so far about the hull. 1. How watertight is it ? A. The planking has dried out while it has been out of the water and shrunk as it is expected to, and much of the old putty has been removed, making it ready for new putty which will be squashed between the planks when it re-enters the water and expands. This is normal and the fitting of a couple of bilge pumps for transit via water will control it. If the motor was not so low seawater could be used to Seller comment Saturday, 11 May 2024
  • swell the planking before relaunching. 2. What rot in the hull ? A. None. Seller comment Saturday, 11 May 2024
  • Why would I make an inquiry or travel without even seeing if this boat exists? c*******7 (7)7:39 pm, Sat, 11 May COLEMAN87, I have seen many of your comments on TradeMe Auctions and refer you to the correct procedures relating to making enquiries about goods offered for sale. In this case, persons interested in the purchase of this yacht are asked to ring for detailed information, and photos are sent as requested to them. I suggest that if you are actually serious about possibly of purchasing this yacht then the very first thing to do is ring and discuss the whole situation. zeleda (1) • Saturday, 11 May 2024
  • The distance between the transom and the centre of the motor for a lifting point, is 3 meters, and the arm of a hiab crane can easily be positioned directly over the motor/box from the stern for hookup and removal before launching if necessary. Approx motor removal is 1 hr. In relation to a question about placement for use as a "tiny house" I can confirm that due to the bilge keels it will sit on the ground/mudflats with short keel extensions through the holes on the keels especially made. Seller comment Sunday, 12 May 2024
  • To those who have watchlisted this auction ( 36 to date ) I remind you that this yacht is offered for sale ONLY ON THE BASIS that it will be removed within the time period detailed in the description, and INSPECTION IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO BIDDING. We are not offering this yacht for sale without a physical inspection. ANY BIDS THAT ARE MADE WILL BE CHECKED AS TO BEING IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS CONDITION OF SALE. We will not accept any bids that are not supported by an inspection prior to bidding. Seller comment Sunday, 12 May 2024
  • Question received about road transport removal. Due to the location of the yacht road transport removal would be better and cheaper if it was launched and towed/motored across to the haulout on the other side of the harbour due to the very steep driveway up under the Auckland Harbour Bridge from the NBBOA haulout yard and the sharp corner at the top of the driveway. The cradle could then be loaded onto a truck and taken to the haulout area the yacht was towed to. Much cheaper. Seller comment Sunday, 12 May 2024
  • Question received about "tiny house" use. Anyone can park a boat/yacht on their backyard/lifestyle block/property without needing any resource consents/local council permission. Seller comment Sunday, 12 May 2024
  • You've seen many of my comments on trademe auctions? Can I see some evidence of this? c*******7 (7)3:44 pm, Mon, 13 May I can confirm as asked today that an outboard motor could be mounted on the stern if you bring a standard flat swing bracket with you and fit it. The transom is relatively flat, and this would then mean that towing it would not be necessary. A generator and a bilge pump would also be needed if going further than 1 hour from the hardstand at the NBBOA yard next to the Auckland Harbour Bridge. zeleda (1) • Monday, 13 May 2024
  • In answer to another enquiry, I understand that the starter motor requires an overhaul and the pan gasket on the transmission needs replacing. I am advised that the motor itself is in reasonably good condition considering the age, hours are not known at this point but enquiries are being made. Seller comment Monday, 13 May 2024
  • The owner is a retired engineer with many years experience in the Marine Industry and would be available for discussions ( dependent upon inspection day/time/his health appointments ) about the history of the "Brigadoon", however, I understand that it has been a coastal motor-sailor in the Northland/Tauranga areas. Seller comment Monday, 13 May 2024
  • You will stsrt to get bids if you at least post a couple of the photos you already have. r********9 (1443)9:38 am, Tue, 14 May Thankyou for your comment RIVERLAND9. One of the people that is interested in buying the yacht that has rung and discussed the general situation, and the removal of it within the 10 day time period, has received several photos and placed a bid to start the auction. More are coming to view it as well. An "open day" is planned for possibly next Sunday so if you are really interested, you are welcome to inspect it then as well. zeleda (1) • Tuesday, 14 May 2024
