Description
WHAT WE LOVE:
Al Deere is New Zealands most famous Fighter Ace Pilot, in the Second World War he racked up 22 confirmed kills with another 10 'probable' kills. Born in Westport and raised in Wanganui, he left for England in 1937 to begin his service. He initially failed his medical check due to high blood pressure and had to undertake further tests that he passed, he wrote his first failure off as 'excitement to start flying'.
To celebrate the centenary of the Royal Air Force in 2018, Christopher Ward came up with this very limited edition model to pay homage to one of the most decorated pilots of the Second World War. Powered by an inhouse calibre with a 120-hour power reserve this watch matches the aesthetic of early pilot watches. In the caseback is a piece of a Spitfire flown by Al, that crashed during a mid air collision with a trainee pilot who took his advice to 'stick to me like glue' a little to literally.
