What are the benefits of having a Trade Me Jobs profile?

Here's what a Trade Me Jobs Profile could do for you.

A Trade Me Jobs Profile will help you stand out from the crowd and make your life a whole lot easier.

Here’s why:

  • Employers can come to you
  • Let employers know what you want
  • It makes applying for jobs faster

From banking to booking holidays, we do pretty much everything online these days. And the same is true of employers looking to find staff. Digital recruitment allows employers to quickly screen candidates and find the perfect person for their role. For this reason, it is now the favoured way for many companies to grow their teams.

As a job hunter, this provides great potential for getting your skills and experience in front of dream employers. A strong online presence can give you a real edge over the competition. So, we’ve designed our Trade Me Jobs Profile as a means to help you do this.

We’ll run through some of the key benefits of this platform as a way to catch an employer’s eye.

Why set up a Trade Me Jobs Profile?

1. Employers can come to you

Employers are scanning Trade Me Jobs Profiles every day. They use specific keywords to search for candidates with particular skills, experience, and job titles.

What does this mean for you? Well, if you create an effective profile, employers could come to you with relevant positions, reversing the traditional hiring process entirely. If you’re actively hunting for a role, it means you’re less likely to miss out on potential opportunities. Even if you’re not looking to change roles right now, there’s nothing wrong with a little ego boost in the form of an employer telling you that you’d make a great addition to their team!

You'll need to keep your profile up to date to get the most out of it.

Importantly, you’ll need to keep your profile up-to-date if you want really relevant contacts from employers. It’s a good idea to regularly update the skills section of your Trade Me Jobs Profile when take an online course or adopt new responsibilities. Think of your profile as your online CV – you wouldn’t apply for a job with an old CV, so make sure you’re putting your best digital foot forward.

Finally, make sure your contact details are entered correctly, and kept up-to-date. Imagine missing out on your dream job just because you still have the number listed from the phone you dropped in the ocean last summer. Ouch.

2. Let employers know what you want

As well as seeing what you’ve achieved to-date, employers also get a clear picture of what you want going forwards in your career. In the ‘My next role’ section, you can specify your preferred location, industry, contract type (e.g. permanent or part-time) and the minimum pay you’d accept.

Hopefully, this means that both you, and any prospective employers, start off on the same page. You’ll have an open and honest interaction from the get-go.

3. It makes applying faster

When you’re applying for jobs and you see a button that says “Apply with Trade Me Jobs Profile”, you can simply click it. Your application will go straight to the employer – easy as.

  3. Hidden: Your profile is loaded onto our system for when you need it, but employers and recruiters can’t see it until you change your profile settings.
