Part of the attraction is going back to "old-school" brushed motors to recreate the past but with the advantage of modern batteries which give a much longer runtime. This TRINITY TRU-LATHE R/C MOTOR COMMUTATOR LATHE appears to have had very little use but requires a "O" ring and a cutting tool both of which are readily available. The lathe is used to polish or cut the commutator which improves its conductivity, racers back in the day would disassemble their motors between races to bed in new brushes and polish the communtator.
