I started building this CNC machine several years ago. The intention was to commercially cut foam cored wings for Radio Controlled Model Aircraft. The required electronic parts were obtained and partially assembled however the project was never completed and I’ve now moved on to other things.

I intended to fit all the electronics in an aluminium tool case (with cooling holes added) to allow portability and easy storage. All soldering and assembly has been completed to a high standard by an experienced Aircraft Avionics Engineer.

The ‘Kit’ comprises the following Parts: 1 x 240vac power supply with suitable outputs to power everything up. 2 x centre tapped Toroidal transformers 4 x bridge rectifiers and smoothing capacitors 4 x Constant current power supply boards (assembled from Oatley Electronics Kit K142C) 4 x Mosfet CNC Stepper Motor Driver boards (assembled from Oatley Electronics Kit K142B). Two of these have been fitted to the heatsink strip and the other two have to be added. 4 x Stepper Motors Two of the larger stepper motors are fitted to frames with a belt driven plate which were intended to become the vertical axes. These are approx. 350mm long with a range of movement of approx. 210mm.

Suitable software for this can be downloaded free from the internet. I was originally intending to use DANCAD but there are many other options available.

Collection is available in Pegasus (North Canterbury) 25 mins from Christchurch Airport. Collection is also available most days from Christchurch Airport (usually Mon-Fri between 7am and 3pm).
