Description
Remington Nylon 12
This is a rare .22 bolt action repeater, fed via a forward magazine tube located beneath the barrel.
Many Remington collectors have never seen one. These sell for over US$1,000 on Gunbroker and other sites. The price has doubled in a decade, as people have wanted to collect the whole Nylon series.
The Remington nylon stocks were made of a DuPont Nylon 66 series plastic called structural Zytel-101 that Dupont developed specifically for these rifles. (Remington Arms was then owned by DuPont.) The basic DuPont Nylon 66 polymer leant its name to the rifle “Nylon 66” autoloader version.
The standard stock colour was a "Mohawk Brown," a walnut brown with black streaks that vaguely resembled wood grain.
The Nylon 66 model, was by far the most popular of any of the Remington Nylon rifles with over 721,000 sold in .22 LR.
With the gun buyback, these became illegal holding 13+1. So one can assume that of the very few in NZ, some ended up being destroyed as people were unaware of the rarity of them.
The Model 12 was produced from 1962-1964 with 27,600 built hence the scarcity. There were two barrel lengths, this is called the 19.5” (19-5/8”).
No rear site but these were comparable with other Nylon models, so no issue replacing it. This has likely had a scope on it at some stage.
This has been pinned to comply with NZ firearm laws.
Note*** firearm purchases requires valid firearms license, I will only ship via a firearms dealer- you will need to organise a receiving dealer near you, and we will still require you to arrange a Police Mail order form for purchase before it will be shipped.
