The Nikonos range of underwater cameras was originally designed by and for Jacques Cousteau. First introduced in 1963, they were the best underwater camera for the following four decades, and still regularly appear in "best 35mm camera" lists.

This ultimate model V was released in 1984. It came out in two colours, but (considering they don't float), this Orange option was the most practical as it can be easily found back when dropped (unlike the other inexplicably Olive Green version, which the ocean floor must be littered with by now).

What else can I say about this camera? It's a legendary iconic beast of a camera. If you've never heard of them, do yourself a favour, don't close this tab but google for "Nikonos V review" - phrases like "handling the Nikonos V is a wonderful experience", "it is by far the brightest, clearest viewfinder I have ever used", "the toughest Nikon ever built", should make you return here to hit the "Buy" button. Also, it's waterproof to 50m, and virtually indesctructible.

Still here? Here's some stuff about this one in particular - I haven't tested it, so it's in "as is" condition. It looks in great shape, and all the mechanisms appear to work. There's no dents, and only very minor wear-and-tear on the body. It's been well looked after. There's spare O-rings and an original tube of Nikonos waterproofing grease.

Extras included:

• Original W-Nikor 35mm f/2.5 lens,
• two original Nikonos Extension Tubes, for adapting the lens to Macro photograhy
• three Macro framer clips,
• three rolls of film, (grossly) outdated. One is in the camera with some mystery shots (all yours),
• Some spare parts, o-rings, original tube of grease, etc.
• Super-solid 3rd party carry-case.

NB - Since the carry case is huge and heavy, I'd prefer pickup in Dannevirke, but I can drop off as far south as Palmerston North/Masterton/Levin, or to Hastings/Napier if necessary. If you don't want the carry-case, I'm happy to ship elsewhere at buyer's expense.
