Very likely to have been made in Japan in the decades just after WWII, when the Japanese were copying Western products. The products weren't quite as fine as the European wares they were copying, but they were a small fraction of the price, and Japanese manufacturing was learning fast, with the quality increasing all the time. Today of course, they have become collectable in their own right. Pick up is in Sydenham, just off Colombo Street.
