Description
A lovely Shelley (late Foley) Ashbourne plate set (similar to Royal Crown Derby) - would probably have been used for serving luncheon, fruit, cheese, high tea etc.
According to https://www.shelleychinaclub.com/Japan/Japan%20Ware%20Spreadsheet.pdf the pattern no 8524 (Ashbourne) was made in Jan 1912 - the backstamp is one used 1910-1916.
There a five plates in all - one quatrefoil serving and four - a bit larger than side plates. Unfortunately, the serving plate has hairline cracks and an old repair and feels a bit unstable, so consider it a freebie when you buy the four plates which are all in very good condition - just loss of gilding commensurate with use and age :-)
Would look great displayed standing up on a dresser or on the wall - Dad used to have the quatrefoil with two plates either side on his wall.
NB: I'm selling these items on behalf of a deceased estate. Please see my personal account feedback which is 100% positive.https://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Feedback.aspx?member=526729
