A delightful pin dish from Crown Devon in the "Devon Glory" range decorated by D Nixon. The dish, which is in very good condition, is 14.5 cm by 10.5cm and about 2cm tall. It is hand decorated on a transfer printed background, with various fruits, including strawberries, red currants etc. along with some foliage. The dish is trimmed with gold around the top lip. The dish dates from the 1930s and the pattern was probably produced to compete with the very popular Orchard Gold range by Aynsley. A very decorative, if small, survivor of that era in UK ceramics history that is very collectable.
