Description
A vintage Fieldings Crown Devon "John Peel" musical jug.
For me, a favourite, with it's special fox handle. John Peel(1776-1854) a huntsman, was immortalised in the circa1824 song "D'ye ken John Peel". Which is the tune played when the jug is lifted up.
S Fielding & Co began operating in the 1870s and from 1921 the name Crown Devon was introduced; the Company closing down in 1982.
Standing 19cm tall, with the music working and in good condition without damage - just some dirt on the inside bottom.
See photos.
