Here’s one of those cool Trojan comps, chock full of late 60’s Jamaican rock-steady and reggae.

Heaps of great artists and tunes here, but a few stand-out for me are: the skanky bustle of ‘Long Shot Kick The Bucket’ by The Pioneers, Lee Perry & The Upsetters western lope ‘Return Of Django’, the sublime harmony vocals of The Kingstonians on ‘Sufferer’ and Clancy Eccle’s double whammy with the King Stitt toast ‘Fire Corner’ and big lady love groove ‘Fattie Fattie’.

Best of all though, is the hard-hitting thump of ‘Them A Laugh And A Ki Ki’ by The Soulmates and the Soul Sisters salaciously saucy ‘Wreck A Buddy’. Those racy Jamaican gals eh….

UB40 – I GOT YOU BABE One of my earliest concert memories is seeing UB40 live in the 1980’s at the Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth and asking my friend what that strange burning smell was… Anyway, the concert rocked and so does this single, their skankin’ smash hit cover of Sonny & Cher’s ‘I Got You Babe’ with guest vocals from Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde.

‘Theme From Labour Of Love’ on the flip is a massive mesmerizing groove too…
