You are bidding on a Teac 144 Tascam Series 4-track recorder.

The 144 was the first cassette 4-track recorder on the market (released in 1979). Used by SO many notable/amazing artists. 

CONDITION First of all, the transport/mechanics are in full working order, although the transport is noisy. All controls/knobs/buttons work as they should.

The only real issue is that when recording onto channels 1 and 2, the level seems to drop severally when the audio is being printed to tape. Playback is fine on all channels - as long as channels 1 and 2 have been recorded elsewhere (or the cassette is flipped so it plays in reverse). The machine was serviced about six months ago, and all four channels were working normally, so maybe this issue is an easy fix?

The varispeed (Pitch Control) works especially well!! Flipping cassettes into reverse, and/or utilising the varispeed are two of the most useful features on this machine. Hainbach would approve! :)

The Mic pre's are also very nice! And of course plugging in synths and drum machines, and overloading the inputs, produces wonderful/musical saturation. So much fun.

The next week; Greater Wellington area, Horowhenua, Hawkes Bay, Wairoa, Gisborne.

The next THREE weeks; Whanganui, Marton, to Taranaki (Hawera, Stratford, New Plymouth, etc)

The next SIX weeks; Marlborough (Picton, Blenheim), through to Nelson and Motueka and National Park, Taumarunui, Turangi, Manawatu, Wairapara.
