The best in the world...An upright player piano made by Gulbransen, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America, Serial No 230896 apparently made in 1920 according to online searches. The upper front panel has sliding doors which open to give access to spool box. It has two brass pedals. The maker's name is cast into the iron frame. It has retractable pedals for pumping the bellows built into the lower piano part behind a sliding door. (And a modernised main’s power air option to play it effortlessly!) From what we have researched, Alex Gulbransen established the Gulbransen piano company in 1904, which became renowned for its high-quality craftsmanship and innovative designs, setting its pianos apart from its competitors. Gulbransen pianos are sought after by collectors, and depending on the instrument’s age, condition, and rarity the price can range from a few hundred dollars to thousands, from some online research. Our family have enjoyed this iron frame, overstrung, underdamper (all the good ‘modern’ stuff) piano for a few years now along with the [60] rolls which come with it, all made very easy using the electric upgrade rather than having to pump away with your feet on the pedals. It works well. The condition is as you can see in the photos. It needs tuning. We have recently been given a modern piano and don’t have room for both unfortunately. We will miss it. It’s a lovely sounding instrument, with an interesting history behind it, but very, very heavy, so it will need a piano mover professional to shift it.
