Pure Country: One of the biggest stars in country music, Dusty Wyatt Chandler (George Strait) grows disillusioned with the hollow performances and overly produced arena shows he's contractually obligated to play. In an effort to become grounded, Chandler walks away from the spotlight and goes back to the country town of his youth. After finding work at a ranch, he falls for the owner's daughter, Lula Rogers (Lesley Ann Warren). However, his manager (Isabel Glasser) is determined to keep the show going.

When his guitar player and best friend, Garland Ramsey (Slim Pickens), decides to retire, Buck replaces him with Garland's daughter, Lily (Amy Irving), and heads back out on tour. The two begin an affair which Viv quickly picks up on, and Buck is forced to choose between the two women he loves.

Ballad of Little Jo: Inspired by a true story The Ballad of Little Jo details the tumultuous life of one of America's great unsung heroes, a survivor of her time. After bearing an illegitimate child, society woman Josephine Monaghan (Suzy Amis) is driven out of town - left to live out the rest of her life in the shadows of disgrace. However, Josephine soon discovers that a lone woman out on the road is easy pickings for wayward cowboys and travelling scoundrels.
