Description
EKCO Radio PB179 push-button radio made by E K Coles, England in 1938. The cabinet is walnut Bakelite and is in nearly mint condition. Width: 570mm, Height: 340mm, Depth: 230mm. This was my uncle’s radio bought new in 1938. The dial is exceptionally clear as the sitting room where the radio was kept was very dark. The house, built in the early 1900s, had a verandah across the front keeping the sun out. After acquiring the radio from my uncle I have stored it in a dry, dark cupboard. It goes faintly and does need work. The 3-pin plug on the lead will be removed as the socket is only 2-pinned. It will be up to the buyer to do a modification so the radio is earthed.
Pick up preferred but I will ship at buyer’s risk due to the cabinet being Bakelite. It will be well packaged.

Hi Gary Does this radio have a power transformer? r*******1 (182 • 10:08 am, Mon, 20 May )Hi Peter, yes it does. However, this is not a double insulated appliance which is why I have drawn any buyer’s attention to the fact that it may need an earth. This would also help with its performance.
