Description
Pye 'Iso-Tronic' turntable from late 1970s. NZ built!
This old girl is original (except for a new drive belt fitted a couple of years ago and brand new stylus) and is in pretty good condition for its age. Some of the vinyl covered casing is showing wear where the vinyl has shrunk and the wood is exposed however I've owned this unit for 15 years now and it has never gotten worse so I'd say it was left somewhere in the sun for a few years before I owned it and I've taken very good care of her.
Speakers are also in a similar condition cosmetically but for their age all in all I'd say the condition is good.
She sounds beautiful - can play nice and loud with no distortion or speaker vibration. All knobs and features work well (ie bass, treble, speaker balance etc).
The play/stop knob points slightly off but operates fine nonetheless. Also the tiny counterweight broke off years ago but that doesn't affect playback or sound quality in any way.
Tape deck is operational although I have't got a cassette to try it anymore - last time I played a cassette was a few years ago and it was working then but my old mini stereo chewed up my last cassette so I can't test it to try the sound for cassettes.
I've had many years of enjoyment of this stunning piece of and has always been a talking point when guests and visitors arrive. I am moving to Australia and can't take her with me so I hope someone can give her a good home and get as much enjoyment from her as I have over the years.
