Description
Here we have on offer today an Art Deco Gem from the 1960's. GENERAL "CROMWELL" 5 valve dual wave radio. With broadcast (AM) and Shortwave bands. Great sound with two large eliptical speakers(see photo). Manufactured by Bell Radio in Auckland under license from General in Japan, Bell imported the cabinets and some other components and manufactured the chassis in their Auckland factory. This model "Cromwell" cabinet was originally all cream but the top half has been spray .painted Fire Engine Red which really gives it a lift in appearance and looks as though it could have been originally that colour. The red paint has a couple of small marks on the left end otherwise the cabinet is perfect with NO CHIPS,NO CRACKS or SCRATCHES. The radio goes really well picking up plenty of stations with a lovely tone. The only fault is that the off/on switch is not turning off so have to turn it off at the wall. I have owned many General radios over the years and to find one in the excellent condition that this one is becoming very hard. Size is: Length 57cm X 17cm depth X 19cm High
