Description
The Marantz TT-4000 is a beautiful vintage turntable….and of course the build-quality and sound is as you would expect from Marantz.
Marantz are a famous American HiFi brand, however during the hey-day of Vinyl during the 70’s and early 80’s they had their turntables, such as the TT-4000 built in Japan, as they were the most technically advanced manufacturers in the world at the time.
The TT-4000 is a champagne-coloured semi-automatic player, when the record gets to the end, the tonearm will return and the turntable will switch off. Importantly, the tone arm lift and return is powered by a separate motor, so there is no interference with the main motor.
Because this turntable is Direct Drive the wow and flutter is a really low 0.03% WRMS… and even minute deviations in speed are instantly detected and corrected with the aid of a quartz-generated reference frequency
It features a nice statically balanced tonearm with adjustable weight and antiskating and the platter contains efficient acoustic insulation with anti-shock resilient suspension….and I've clad the plinth in real timber veneer to increase its vintage charm.
The 2 phase, 8 pole, DC coreless motor gets the dynamically-balanced 12” aluminium diecast platter up to speed really quickly….and with great torque.
It includes a copy of the user manual, and is in perfect working order and looks sweet, with just a few marks to the cabinet/dust cover, and a small crack to the back of the dust cover (but it doesn't affect the function)
It also comes with a very nice Sansui SC-37A cartridge / Stylus
Good Luck!
