I bought this rather unique power amp, brand new, directly from Tom Evans in the then, current, mark 11 version. I, later, returned the amp' to Tom Evans to be upgraded to the latest 'mark 111' version. The previous versions used the 'Groove' phono stage IC input stage. The mark 3 features the more sophisticated 'Mastergroove' phono stage style input IC stage. Plus enhanced power supplies and Improved output transformers.

Tom Evans says that the mark 3 version no longer needs the global feedback of the previous versions to achieve it's remarkable measured performance. A user-adjustable (0 to 3 db in six steps) global FB knob is fitted so you can experiment with the effect of differing GFB.

Each channel has 4 x EL84 valves, connected in parallel, configured as pentodes with 43% ultra linear taps and constant-current-sources on the valve cathodes. So the amp' uses a total of eight x EL84s which need to be correctly matched for best performance.

I am Including a matched set of 'Electro Harmonix' EL84s which are used but still test 'as new' on my AVO IV valve Analyser. (EL84s are, typically, very long lived). I will also Include a second, matched set, of almost new, Psvane EL84 T11 valves which are, now, Tom's recommended option.

The amp puts out 24 watts of single-end valve power, at less than 1% THD (at 24 watts) and better than 90 db Signal to noise! These figures are Way better than other SET valve amps and comparable to the most expensive push-pull valve amps.

I am now using speakers which require more power than the Linear A, which is why it is for sale. I have the original packing crate so courier is an option but this amp will weigh nearly 30kg when packed!

Sounds Fabulous with the following speakers: Cube Audio Nenuphars, any Lowther horn loaded speakers, Quad ESL 57s (but probably not other electro statics). BBC LS3/5a. Probably any Klipsch Heritage speakers, Tested with Klipsch Forte IV!

I have the factory shipping crate so freight is an option.
