Description
Ebenezer Teichelmann Cutting Across Continents. Just The 2nd Copy Off the Press.
Published 2004 and written by Bob McKerrow with the Forward by Sir Edmund Hillary.
This beautiful hardcover with dust jacket is inscribed and signed by the author himself who confirms in the inscription this was literally the 2nd copy of this book off the printing press.
Pioneer New Zealand mountaineer, explorer, surgeon, photographer and conservationist Teichelmann, after emigrating from Australia in 1897, devoted his life to the health of the disperse community living on New Zealand's remote west coast. Between times he sought solace in the mountains at his doorstep, sensitively capturing their moods on his large plate camera. He explored the Southern Alps extensively and completed many first ascents with other well-known climbers of his era.
