Description

Solid Oak (but may also be Rewarewa) antique writing desk. Likely to have originally been a bigger office desk, and the top may have been reduced in width to make it more suitable as a student desk. As a result, it comes apart for easy transport. It’s got no scratches or ink stains and is in lovely condition and has a nice grain. Would make a great homework desk for a young student. Desk dimensions are 690mm by 1200mm by 750mm high.

  • Is there any sign of borer past or present? w********. (158)9:09 am, Sun, 19 May No. I can’t see any indication of borer. mart2 (37) • Sunday, 19 May 2024
  • Is it possible to have a photo of the back of the desk please a**********s (392)9:10 am, Thu, 23 May Yes. I’ll post that shortly. mart2 (37) • Thursday, 23 May 2024
  • hi as the middle section of the back has been obviously been replaced and certainly not original, when was the desk sanded and had replacement parts used ? What finish has the desk now got ? a**********s (392)6:52 pm, Thu, 23 May We bought the desk as it is many years ago, so I can’t be specific on any changes. I suspect that it may have been much wider, and that the top may have been cut back. That would have required that the back panel between the 2 drawer cabinets be also cut down. Don’t think any replacement parts were used, as the grain on the back panel matches the rest. I stripped it back a few years ago and redid the finish with Danish oil. mart2 (37) • Thursday, 23 May 2024
  • thanks for your speedy reply, the middle back part should be a panel rather than a solid piece of oak , similar to the sides of the desk. Given that you should really change your listing description to reflect the fact the desk is not actually be in original condition parts have been changed and the finish is not original . a**********s (392)7:17 pm, Thu, 23 May Will do mart2 (37) • Thursday, 23 May 2024
  • ps your oak table is in fact not oak but rewarewa / NZ honey suckle a**********s (392)7:21 pm, Thu, 23 May I thought it was oak, but if it is rewarewa it’s still a lovely timber mart2 (37) • Thursday, 23 May 2024
  • Hi sorry for the confusion the desk is oak but not necessarily in original condition and the table you also have listed is rewa rewa a**********s (392)11:30 am, Fri, 24 May You responses only serve to confuse potential buyers as well as myself. It amounts to trolling. Please stay away from my auction as you clearly have no intention to buy anything. mart2 (37) • Friday, 24 May 2024
