Description
A beautiful gold medal, stamped on the back 15 Ct and weighing 17 grams it is highly detailed, the outside is winners laurel inside of that is a ring that has royal blue lettering. (I was going to say Prussian blue, but that doesn't seem right for 1918).
CH.CH GUN CLUB SPARROW CHAMPIOSHIP . 1918 .
Inside the lettering ring is a dome that has a clear stone (Crystal? Diamond?) as its centre piece. The back is inscribed (in a classic Edwardian Font)

I did find a news paper article from 1920 that said the first prize for Sparrow was a medal valued £10 along with 60% in cash of the net amount of the sweepstake. This medal is the same design as the one held at the Canterbury Museum, from 1922.

It is quite interesting to read something that it specifically linked to the item. theecoshop (1451 • Thursday, 16 May 2024 )As a descendent of the Chisnall's I am saddened to see a family heirloom been auctioned off. It should really go back to the family. r******n (38 • 1:57 pm, Tue, 21 May )
