This high-quality musical jewellery box was handmade in Italy with skills and techniques that date back to the 7th century. It is hand inlaid and made of natural wood and features a Swiss music mechanisms. It includes a key with tassel to lock and keep safe jewellery or other valuable items. The inside is covered in rich velvet lining.

The range of woods used include walnut, briar, ebony, maple, poplar, elm, bobbing, palisander, and more. The creators of this beautiful work of art, Donato and Maresca (Sorrento, Italy), have closed and these have become a highly sought-after item. The boxes were manufactured using hand-based techniques, with the help of modern tools, such as the double-ended crosscut saw. The typical shading intricacy of the design is achieved with the aid of red-hot sanding. This operation, which must be executed with immense care, gives warm and elegant nuances to the beautiful tones of the wood itself. The wood passes through stages of smoothing and polishing to yield exquisite high gloss, or elegant matte finishes. These phases involve manual work with endless grain variations, such that essentially no two pieces are exactly alike.

The box measures approximately 27cm x 15cm x 7 cm, its finished colour is "red wine" which is a shade of pink, and it has a beautiful coroncina design, and pink velvet inside. It plays Love Story Theme.
