Tomato Mortgage Lifter (Lycopersicon esculentum)

You are buying approximately 50 x seeds of Tomato Mortgage Lifter.

Produces extremely large, slightly flat, delicious tomatoes that can comfortably grow to 1 kg in ideal conditions.

A tasty tomato that is excellent for summer salads. It is well known for its productivity and good disease resistance.

It will produce many laterals, but if you want to grow the biggest tomatoes possible you want to keep your plants trained to a single stem. FYI you can place pruned laterals in a cup of water until roots develop then harden off in pots to get more tomato plants for free.

Tips:

Germinate the seeds in seed raising mix, then transplant seedlings to a sunny and well-drained position.

Typically germinates in anywhere from 7-14 days under favourable conditions.

These plants need to be supported as they grow, as they can reach up to 1.5m in height producing large sized fruit.

Best sown spring and early summer.

Maturity 80-90 days from transplant.

Heirloom seeds have been saved and handed down by generations of gardeners worldwide, and are cherished for their high-quality and flavourful produce.

This heirloom was developed in the 1930's by ‘Radiator Charlie’ Byles of West Virginia. As the story goes, Charlie planted the four biggest varieties he knew and cross-pollinated to produce this exceptional fruit. He then sold the plants for $1 a piece, paying off his $6,000 mortgage in 6 years.
