I am selling this fantastic Topping DX9 headphone DAC/amp as I am reshuffling my 2 channel stereo system, and will be using the leftover components to drive my headphones from here on.

I bought the unit in November 2023, and it still has about 18 months warranty left. It is 100% functioning, and has no damages.

It’s a great sounding and compact DAC/amp combo, which also looks the part. The case is solid and well made. The dual displays are crisp and clear with vibrant colours. The illumination of the internal components is a nice touch, but I kept the LED lights switched off. Its footprint is very small, making it easy to place e.g onto a bedside table or a desktop.

I used the DX9 as a headphone amp via its I2S input, so I cannot comment on its qualities as a preamp. It has plenty of input and output options, and an extensive settings menu.

As for the specs, please look those up on the web - specs for headphone amps never meant much to me. I was using the DX9 with a pair of higher-end planar magnetic headphone via the XLR output, and the DX9 drove them without any issues at all. Great detail and dynamics, no noise, and certainly plenty of power. I mainly listen to acoustic music on my headphones, and with the DX9 it sounded like a had a little piano in my head :) I do like the tonality of the AKM DAC chip implementation, which to my ear sounds very natural (I have personally never been a fan of Sabre DAC chips, at least not the older ones).

The volume control is very nice and allows for a fine adjustment of the desired output. I also tried the headphone with IEMs (on low gain), and no issues there - the noise floor is dead silent.

I still have the original packaging, and of course, the remote.
