Description
Olympus OM-1N 35mm camera, which has not exactly been looked after, but is still going strong.
The Olympus OM-1 is a classic 35mm film camera, designed by Yoshihisa Maitani, and was revolutionary at the time, being very compact with a large bright viewfinder. It is a manual camera, with no need for batteries, and manual exposure. The battery is just used for the light-meter. This is one of the later OM-1N cameras, so it has all of the modifications done during production.
When we received this donated camera it was in very poor condition; very dirty, and you could hardly see through the viewfinder. I have given it a clean, checked under the top cover, and replaced the prism which was very bad with one which has a few marks, but is quite useable (see photo) . It is now winding on nicely, shutter is good and the shutter speeds feel right. Not film tested, though.
It still needs a good clean and lubrication. The shutter ring is not as smooth as it should be. The lightmeter is not working. Pricing it accordingly.
