Description
A 1946 prize-winning photograph titled "The Trees' Vigil..." by the NZ photographer William Charles McKaskell(1905-1953).
On the reverse is the label identifying that this photograph won First Prize in the Competitive Section at the 1946 New Zealand Industries Fair.
The photograph features an interesting scene of a typical suburban park/grass area at night with trees in a line(standing sentinel-like) and with a bright light source from the left, spotlighting one of the trees while the houses and buildings are primarily in darkness and just visible as silhouettes. As we sleep, the trees stand vigil. I think it's Elmwood Park, ChCh.
The framed artwork measures 50cm by 32cm and is protected behind glass; however, time has meant some staining has developed - primarily towards the right side and it is able to be hung.
