Description
Slim Aaron’s lush colour photographs immortalized mid-century luxury. His frames captured jet-set American subjects lounging, gossiping, and drinking in palatial Palm Springs mansions and on European beaches during the post-war era. Aarons also photographed cultural icons such as the Kennedys, Marilyn Monroe, Humphrey Bogart, and Grace Kelly, and worked as a photographer for magazines including Life and Vogue. His photographs have been exhibited in Amsterdam, Los Angeles, and New York, and have sold for five-figure prices on the secondary market. In his own words he photographs "attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places."
Poolside Gossip shot in 1970 is the most iconic of all Slim Aarons prints. Poolside Gossip has ingrained itself into popular culture, becoming an everlasting symbol of style and modernism. This artwork taken at a Desert House in Palm Springs features actress Lita Baron approaching Nelda Links (right, in yellow) and her friend, Helen Dzo Dzo (left). Photo taken in Palm Springs on January 22nd 1970.
The image as a reproduction printed on a 260gsm semi-lustre photographic paper.
