Description
Two sets of antique "Pyne's Figures", handcoloured copper engravings dating from 1814-1815.
Both are mounted on card and encased with a cellophane wrap. Apart from 2 pin-prick holes on the edge of each, they are in good condition. The cards measure 27cm by 36cm.
Portrayed are ordinary 'rustic' people of the time - men, women and children.
William Henry Pyne(1770-1843) first exhibited with the Royal Academy in 1790 and was one of the founders of the Royal Watercolour Society in 1804.
