Description

Sir Gordon Minhinnick 13.6.1902-19.2.1992, born in England & left for NZ in 1921 where he studied architecture. In 1926 he joined the NZ Free Lance as a cartoonist. He worked for the Christchurch Sun & Auckland Sun & then joined the NZ Herald as a political cartoonist in 1930 & officially retired in 1976. In 1950 he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire & in 1976 Queens Birthday Honours, he was promoted to Knight Commander of the British Empire. The 1946 cartoons & Old Soldier Sam booklets cover is in fair condition as per photos. The first 3 pages on the edges also have nibbles but then condition is pretty good there on. The graphics are good in all 56 pages. This is a sought after booklet. The second smaller booklet is in good condition with some discolouration & spotting commensurate with its age & intended use. Also 56 pages. No rips/ tears / evidence of being eaten. The front cover has slight separation from the back cover at the top.
