Description
This antique, late-Victorian hand painted Conta Boehme Fairing Porcelain figurine shows a couple racing to get into bed with the title 'The last in bed to put out the light'.
It is in very good + condition with gilding around the sides. A candle stick on the table is missing, but this is normal for this design, as it was believed to be good luck to break off the candle in the Victorian era (see images).
It was owned by my grandfather from Staffordshire and dates from around 1890. The underside is stamped with 'Made in Germany' and embossed with Conta & Boehme's shield mark and number 2851.
Width: 5.5cm (2 1/6") Height: 7cm (2 3/4") Length: 9cm (3 9/16")
See my other listing for a similar figurine 'Three O'Clock in the Morning' #2853. They make a nice pair - happy to combine shipping.
