Description
Antique vintage chocolate mould of a beautiful and highly detailed Easter bunny rabbit pulling a wheelbarrow or egg cart full of Easter eggs. These are so collectible and in really high demand right now!
The mould is made by Hermann Walter in Berlin, Germany dating to around 1928 and measures 15cm across and is hinged at the middle at factory. Both sides matched with the catalog number 8470 appearing on the inside. It amazes me the level of detail they can put into the faces of these bunnies from moulds made almost 100 years ago! This mould would have commanded a high price amongst confectioners back then.
The exterior shows lovely golden patina which adds to its charm, the inside is still shiny and could likely be used for edible chocolate or use as decoration, making candles or wax bunnies, or use the mould as a display piece.
Hermann Walter was a prominent mould maker based on Berlin Germany. Competed with the greatest mould manufacturer, A. Reiche for the market share which was no easy feat. Walter unique as stamped the number on inside of flange not outside like others.
Tinned moulds are so collectible reaching thousands of $$ at auctions, value driven by rarity, manufacturer, completeness, matched or married side, condition and character / story depiction.
Germany, European, French country cottage kitchen, rustic kitchenalia ornament, art deco themed house, Victorian era decorative home staging. Use to make chalkware, wax figures, sell at market, gift friends.
