Carved in Germany in 1980 & signed & dated by a soldier in BOAR ("British Army of the Rhine")

Can you IMAGINE a more awesome CENTERPIECE for any Special Air Service collection?

I purchased these plaques from a private collection when I was over buying stock in The UK last year

I do not have any additional history of this item and I have no knowledge who any of the three people named on the plaque were?

But it seems to me to be "self provenancing"

SIZE = approx. 3 feet tall by 10" wide and 2.5" THICK

This plaque weighs OVER 10.00 KILOGRAMS, That before it is safely packed, to survive the worst that Postman Pat can do........So the postage cost is HEFTY...sorry

British Army of the Rhine (BAOR)

There have been two formations named British Army of the Rhine (BAOR). Both were originally occupation forces in Germany, 1 after WW1 &the other after WW2

Both formations had areas of responsibility located around the German section of the River Rhine.

During the Cold War, the second formation was attached to NATO's Northern Army Group (NORTHAG) & tasked with defending the North German Plain, in the northern part of West Germany, from the armies of the Warsaw Pact. Its operational component that commanded the actual units of the BAOR was the 1st British Corps. The British Army of the Rhine and its subordinate 1st Corps made up a major part of the British Forces in Germany.
