Description
I discovered a sword in Damascus, Syria ME in 2016. Wonderful markings, weight, length. My initial research says 1822 -1874 as marked on the back of the blade with French language narration. Guard handle has 1900 stamp, blade top/tang has a 3, reverse side has two makers stamps, two makers stamp on the scabbard at the top, again 1900 on the scabbard. Curved blade, curved scabbard, some 106cm from tip to pommel tip. Great Condition
"3rd gen (after 1860) French 1822 light cavalry sabre" was advised by a European specialist
Further information suggests a 1822 model, made in 1874
