These two little ladies have come from an estate lot and have been in storage for a number of decades.

We believe one is a grandmother's doll and the other belonged to an elderly parent who had her doll when she was a child.

All items sold AS IS and both have damage. Feel free to ask any questions.

The larger doll is from Japan and is a sculpted celluloid (hard hollow plastic), with jointed limbs connected with elastic. She/he? is approx 62cm long when laid out straight. It is damaged, some broken fingers and tape around each wrist to help keep its arms together (they are two pieces by design). This doll needs some TLC. It wears what looks like a handmade handstitched cotton dress. There are the remains of a very old label on this doll. We've attached a pic of an intact label from the internet for reference. The doll also has a mark at the base of its neck, a diamond with the sun inside and MADE IN JAPAN. Similar dolls are circa 1920s.

The smaller doll is a NZ made Plastic Products Co doll. It is stamped PP at the base of the neck and made from a reasonably heavy composite as kindly mentioned in Q&A. Her eyes open and close. She needs TLC too especially her hair and some of her plaster is damaged in several places. She measures 45cm when laid flat. These dolls were made in Hamilton NZ from the 1940s.
