Old, Older, Desirable – a Box full of Hats and Caps from the olden days – just for you ?

Downsizing has its surprises, like this interesting find in the back of the garage, an aged original hat carrier box with some pretty hats and caps, ideally suited for your collection or for special events, parties, a day at the races and more.

It seems all but one were made in New Zealand, including that great brown furry cap. This satin-lined beauty was made by Dunedin-based furrier company J.K. Mooney, one of New Zealand’s leading fashion company in the olden days, having been founded way back in 1912, using local and imported furs for local and foreign markets.

Then there is that red beauty, a soft velvet touch cap, made by JACOLL, almost displaying a turban style front. The material feels like georgette. The mauve hat created by MODES still has two hat pins attached/hidden behind that delightful blossom. Sadly the inside lining needs to be re-attached.

And then there is the black cap, reminding me of the art deco or Cuban revolution style… very attractive indeed this timeless beauty, made in China for JENDI, a leading supplier of fashion hats and caps. Last not least there is the orange brown beauty, lacking a designer or manufacturer name but an interesting addition for your collection.

We offer these reminders of the good old days as shown in a vintage used condition for the new owner to re-shape these for immediate use as they have been in that aged box for a long time. That solid cardboard box, made by HERCULES shows its age, it is damaged and is therefore not for sale (unless the lucky bidder wants to pick it up here for display purposes). Of interest may also be some of the old packaging paper with the details of a leading hat boutique (The Hat Shop) in Christchurch, as shown.
