WEDDING CHIMES – a Delightful Super Rare Book – 120 years old – at least for you ? for a museum ? as a present for x=mas ?

We offer today yet another unusual and highly collectable rare book from the good old days, in this case this is over 120 years ago, published by Frederick Warne & Co in London.

Those were the days indeed, weddings being celebrated in the old style, with rather unusual gifts such as this one.

This little beauty was gifted in 1902 according to the hand written note inside: ...To Grace, wishing her any Happy Returns of this day.

This hard cover Wedding Chimes Gift book measures only 11.5 cm x 9 cm. On over 100 pages there is a verse or wish by some of the leading personalities of the time and distant past, one for each day of the year, incl quotes from Tennyson, Byron, E. A. Poe, even Schiller, or from ancient times Euripides, not to mention/forget Shakespeare.

According to the publisher this book was intended to serve as a record of the marriages of relatives and friends, dates, locations, participants etc..
