Description
We offer today a very rare opportunity to bid for a reminder of the good old days, a summary of laws, rules and regulations passed by the New Zealand Parliament way back in 1869, passed in the 32nd and 33rd years of the reign of HM Queen Victoria, when the Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross Saint Michael and Saint George was the Govenor .
Well those were the days indeed... over 150 years ago, and this book is a piece of history, the official record of the statutes confirmed by the 4th Session of only the 4th Parliament of New Zealand, making it a most valuable source for both current students and practitioners of the legal and related professions, also for students of politics and indeed the English language.
Printed by George Didsbury, Government Printer in Wellington, this rare book offers some interesting reading in over 280 pages... This is more than just a museum piece, also more than just a decoration in a lawyers office. It has interesting topics such as
- Nelson and Cobden Railway Act
- Canterbury Waste Land Regulations
- Naval and Military Settlers grants of Land
- The Disturbed District Act (also dealing with treason, murder, rape, larceny and more)
- Power to search for Arms and Ammunition
- The Gold Fields Act, The Native Lands Act, and related
- The Canterbury Rivers Act and so many more topics with are relevant even today...
and the good news is that this rare book can be yours soon. Happy Bidding.
Please note that payment is due within three workings days. And if time permits why not check out our other goodies here on TradeMe, some from distant lands or distant times.. and some very rare indeed, some weird, some real museum pieces, incl some militaria or royalty, unusual and very collectable books – not just for the rainy day.... And if possible we could try to combine postage.
Ps this book measures 32.5 cm x 21 cm. Many moons ago it was once in the library of a Mr/Mrs Shaw, among others.
