Antique 18ct yellow gold and garnet ring, Clearly hallmarked for 1780. This yellow gold ring is in good condition as evident from the fine chased repousse work and the legibility of the hallmarks. The garnet is flat cut as was the style at the time and foiled in a box setting with outer applied claws. The flat cut Rhodolite garnet is a deep red color with nibbles from one corner. This was sourced from an estate auction.

The brooding crimson tone of this artfully set garnet provides a beautiful example of Georgian Era craftsmanship and creativity. An impressive, example for a ring 245 years old!

The elegant foliage motifs as seen throughout the gold work of this ring is typical of jewelry from the Georgian time period as is the closed back of the stone.

This ring is a fine example from this time period. It is very rare to encounter such a fine example - in this condition - all in gold and not silver

This is a size U ( a large size)and was most likely worn on a middle finger over gloves. As this ring is such a wonderful fine example and nearly $250 years old it should not be resized.
