Description
Auction is for an old Mother of Pearl (likely) clam shell jewellery box. Likely bought over in Hawaii in the 70's The top half - the lid, is the natural polished shell, the bottom half is a composite of Mother of Pearl shell. The inner bottom is fully lined with a black velvet type material. The top half \ lid has a trim edge o the same material
It measures 16.5cm width, depth 9.5cm, height approx 5.5cm
FYI
Mother of Pearl is from mollusk shells have a nacre coating. The primary distinction between a shell that has a mother of pearl coating and a shell that does not is the iridescent quality. The clam shell has a nacre coating.
