Description
WALKERs TRIDENT SHIPS LOG in ORIGINAL BOX
Mechanical ship's log, used to measure speed at sea, by the Thomas Walker & Son company of Birmingham, England. This ship's log was made in the early 1900's (the 'cherub' log was patented by Thomas Ferdinand Walker in 1897) but this Walker ‘Trident’ was one of the largest ship's logs sold by the Walker company. The instrument head is made of brass and has a white porcelain dial face and three analog counters. This instrument head does come with the mounting bracket that is used to attach it to a ship's taffrail or the rotator that is dropped into the water. The brass needs polishing. Condition: -The Ships Log has been dropped with dents and gouging; the glass instrument cover is gone. (see photos)
I Tested this ship log with a Battery Drill and all the Dials moved freely without restriction and in syncronisity with each other.
The Stain to the Instruction and Information on the Lid of the Box is either water sealing or staining of the box......or possibly blood.
It is in working condition.
-Instrument Head measures approx.: 10 1/2" Long x 7" High x 5" wide -Weighs approx. 7 lbs. 6 oz. -Made in England by Thomas Walker & Son Ltd

Unfortunately I Do Not Know What Ship This Originally Came From. Normally well over a Thousand USA, condition determines the value.
