Description
The Fender Bassman was originally designed to be a bass amp (surprise, surprise) but was soon discovered by guitarists and has since become one of the most sought after amps for guitar and especially for Fender players since it's tone is so perfectly suited to them.
This unit was originally sourced from CBS studios in Sydney where it had a previous life as a recording amp. The cabinet is a custom-built quad-box with 4 McKenzie 8" drivers. I used it for live work for about 5 years but since I am focussing on studio work these days it is rarely used. I offer this for sale very reluctantly as I know how hard it would be to ever replace it but I can't see myself getting back into live work so I guess it doesn't make sense to have it just sitting around.
The fronts of both the amp and cabinet are covered in a leopard-skin material for a "retro" look but the original covers are still behind that.
Being a bass amp means that there is no distortion channel as such but it is still possible to get a hot, grungy sound by driving the pre-amp hard. The overall sound I would describe as "sweet, smooth and chunky".
